May I introduce Shiva, the destroyer god…
“Shiva”
Interesting conversation this morning with Shivani.
She is 23. College graduate. Cant find a job. Having trouble with her boyfriend. Has had to move back in with her parents. And is none to happy with her life at the moment.

What made the conversation interesting is it was over our new chat translation platform at Need Him and she was chatting to me in Hindi and lives in New Delhi.
She considers her self very religious and seeks peace from her god, Shiva. She considers Shiva to be the primary diety of among several million gods represented in Hinduism. Shiva is often considered to be part of the Hindu “trinity” consisting of Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu.
I respected her beliefs and told her I was a follower and disciple of Christ, my Guru. To Hindus, their gods are mythical and non-historical. They are fascinated with Christ, who is a historic God manifested in human form.
Hindus also take sin VERY seriously. To achieve salvation (moksha) they work very hard to fight back the bad debt of kharma in their life. Its why reincarnation is so important to Hindus. It gives them one more opportunity to be sinless and receive moksha.
Its exciting to share the teachings of Guru Christ in human form in Ephesians 2:8-9 and Hebrews 7:27 that promise that in fact Jesus paid the debt in full and is a free gift from His work and not ours.
We didn’t get to finish our chat. Pray for Shivani. For her depression, her circumstances, and that she will know the only peace and moksha is found through faith in the one True God, Jesus Christ.
How excited would you be if someone asked you to tell them about your God. Hindu is the third largest religion in the world. You know a Hindu. Ask them whether they worship Shiva, Brahma, or Vishnu. Love your friend. Respect them. And tell them about the one God of all and what He did for them.
Does that cause you some “tension?” It’s “divine!” Hey, what a great name for a blog!
